The film about the life of famed dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock, based in 1950s London, focusses on Woodcock's relationship with his muse and is a collaboration between Day-Lewis and director Paul Thomas Anderson.The actor explained how the role played a pivotal part in his decision to retire.To prepare for his role as Hawkeye, an 18th-century survivalist, Day-Lewis learned to track and skin animals, build canoes, fight with tomahawks, fire and reload a 12-pound flintlock on the run.
